Stay Safe, Wear a Mask. Ahead, some good hygiene tips on how to correctly put on and take off a face mask. These tips will keep you and your loved ones safe.
How to Properly Put Your Mask On:
Step 1: Wash your hands
Use an alcohol-based hand wash to kill germs and bacteria that can spread from your hands to your face. Rub your hands for at least 20 seconds for good results.
Step 2: Put on the Mask
Make sure it fits snugly and is as close to your face as possible with minimum gaps between the mask and your skin.
Step 3: Position it properly
Ensure that it fully covers your mouth and nose, because these are the areas that can catch and spread pathogen-containing droplets to other parts of your face.
How to Properly Take Your Mask Off:
Step 1: Avoid Touching the Front of the Mask
Chances are that it could be contaminated with pathogens. Also, your hands are important vectors of infection, so if you touch your eyes, nose or mouth after coming into contact with the outer side of the mask, you could be indirectly transmitting the virus to those areas. So, hold the mask only by the ear loops and pull it forward to minimize the risk of infection.
Step 2: Discard it Properly
Still holding it by the ear loops, carefully deposit the mask into a paper bag. Then, discard the bag into a bin.
Step 3: Wash your Hands
Use an alcohol-based hand wash and rub your hands for at least 20 seconds to get the job done.
Please Note: If you are using a reusable mask, at the end of the day (after using at least for 8 hours), take the mask off from the straps not touching the front. Wash it properly and dry it completely in sun.
